The First Voldemort Speaks

Richard Bremmer, who portrayed Lord Voldemort in the first Harry Potter movie, recenlty This is Northeast, and went into a bit more detail about his role in the film. Read what he had to say below.

But it was Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone and the role of "he who must not be named" Lord Voldemort which came closest to making Bremmer a household name. Sadly, some of the scenes involving Daniel Radcliffe as Harry and Bremmer as Voldemort were considered too scary in the first film and ended up on the cutting room floor. With the Potter franchise proving to be as lucrative as J K Rowling's books, Bremmer's lack of fame led to him losing out on the part when the two meet again in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire. "The producers spent a long time fighting to get me so I'm very proud to have been the first. But the role is now being played by Ralph Fiennes, who is an old mate, in the fourth film. I've been in the business a long time and it didn't surprise me they just went for a bigger name, being Hollywood led, and I'm happy to pass it on to Ralph." He agrees that after the 'child-friendly' first film, Harry Potter plots have got darker "mainly because the audience is growing older with the films".

I heard Daniel Radcliff might not play in the next film because he's might be too old for the part. :angry:That is so stupid.

i agree john! I would love to see those scenes. But i strongly hope GOF is pg-13! Then Voldemort can be scary as he wants!

:wassat: Straighten this out 4 me; in the 1st film the credits say that Ian Hart voiced Voldemort but Richard Bremmer or whtevr PLAYED voldemort. Why didn't he just provide the voice himself????

sorry, off topic. But I was just watching Sherlock Holmes and Ian Hart played Dr Watson! I didnt even notice till the credits, what a bad HP fan I am.

to scarry?-omg-i 4 one as a potter fan would like to see these cutting room readings-that really sucks-voldemort has to be scarry!!!-fines is a great actor-and will play it good-but c'mon-i dont think a scary reading in the 1st film wouldve made it pg-13 :laughing:

Ian Hart was Professor Quirrell. The face/voice on Quirrell's head (that sounds very funny, doesn't it?) was Richard Bremmer.
