Clemence Poesy- She is Fleur Delacour!
A 22 year old, this child from balle (part of Paris)(her father is in theater) has already 6 years of career behind her, in movies and on television. Perfectly bilingual, she plays (acts) indifferently in French and English, something giving her a little edge helping her open the door to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Interviewer- How did the casting for Fleur Delacour happen?
Clemence Poesy- I was working on a project with the director of casting Stephane Foenkinos. He was already busy with the Goblet of Fire and asked me if I was interested. Not believing it was actually happening I accepted because I thought I was too old for the role. I discussed with him in English on camera and he sent the tape away. Mike Newell then came to Paris to meet some of the girls and I was one of them. We talked, I went to London for a tryout and that's it!
Interviewer- How did you feel when you entered the saga of Harry Potter?
Clemence- I still don't really know. I just did my job. I was in the filming, I was working in front of magical backgrounds(decor) with great special effects, and a very comfortable environment. This type of filming was totally different from what I was used to before. But I don't know yet. I saw a few parts of it, and my character was suddenly not me anymore. The whole crew created this whole new character.
Interviewer- How did you create Fleur Delacour?
Clemence- The goal most of all was to find a way of carrying herself. Because, well, she's not telling 40,000 things and its not one of those characters that you will have to use you head to understand. Its somebody with who you have fun with. Find the right look and a way to impose her image, which in this case is very cold, something we decided with the director.
Interviewer- How does Mike Newell behave with his actors/actresses?
Clemence- He's very focused and a very precise director. He knows what he wants with his characters and the story. It's a big game for him, and he has fun with it. In my case with my character whos is really out there, we laugh a lot. But when the story becomes somber, he really surprised me because I was not ready to be playing in a movie with such great special effects.
Interviewer- When they were not filming, were you a big-sister figure with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson?
Clemence- Ya right, I was the Grandmother. (laughs) What was funny at the beginning, is that they asked me: "But you came here without your mom?" (laughs) Later on they realized I was 22 years old. In any case, it went over very well with the other actors. Mike made a point that we would know each other before starting filming, because we have a lot of scenes in groups and there is a lot of competition between our characters. He wanted us to have a relationships between each other. We had two small sessions of easy going work, to get to know one and other. They are wonderful actors/actresses, very mature, and are capable of talking about any subject. Anyways, they don't have too prove anything.
Interviewer- Contrary to you?
Clemence- Me, I had everything to prove, even if because of Harry Potter, I have access to other projects. Before that, I accepted a role absolutely terrifying, the role of Mary Stuart for the BBC. Next to that Harry Potter was like a vacation. Because to be honest with you, concerning the fun, Harry Potter was a lot more fun during 8 months on a project absolutely monstrous and completely surreal. It was really not a challenge as far as acting, but the experience was out of this world.
