The Do Not Disturb sign is back up on the Room of Requirement entrance on J. K. Rowling's website. When the door opened, it gave us a very special Christmas gift - the title of the 7th (and last) Harry Potter book - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
If you didn't get the chance to play Jo's game of hangman, you can see our article about it here, and see our Room of Requirement section on our JKR website page here that includes photos of the opening. |

Completion of Book 6 Revealed Two Years Ago Today
|
The completion of the sixth Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was announced to us exactly two years ago. The Room of Requirement opened on J. K. Rowling's website on December 20, 2005, to reveal a Christmas tree and presents. From there, we had to go through many different steps, answering riddles, and figuring out how to get the gift we all wanted - the news that the sixth book was complete!
Alas, so far, we have not received this gift for the seventh book, though many of us hold out hope.
Jo did, however, give us a recent update, which we are thankful for!
If you did not get the chance to be a part of that fun Christmas puzzler two years ago, then you can see how it went on our J. K. Rowling website update link. |

Repost: J. K. Rowling Updates Site: Has 3rd Title for 7th Potter Book
|
This is a repost from Tue, 31 October 2006 09:34:00
J. K. Rowling has updated her diary on her site, saying that she now has a third title for the 7th Harry Potter book.
OCTOBER 31st
I've now got a third title. I've been thinking back, and I know that I've had more titles than this for a couple of the previous books, so I'm not too worried by this. Title three currently ahead by a short nose, or perhaps that should be a vowel and two consonants.
I've just had a great writing week. There are few feelings more joyous than reading back over the week's work and thinking 'that's not bad at all', as opposed to the all-too-frequent, 'it's rubbish, I've wasted a week and I'll have to re-write the lot.' And if you think that's an exaggeration or false modesty, you are very, very wrong. It's perfectly possible to put in eight hour days and have nothing to show for them but a single idea that, if reworked completely, might be passable.
Congratulations on your W.O.M.B.A.T. scores, incidentally. You're getting pretty good. |
