The Sunday Mirror is reporting that a musical based on the Harry Potter books is in the works. According to the article, they're already looking for someone to have the main role, to play Potter in an all-singing, all-dancing version of J.K. Rowling's magic at Hogwarts.
A 'theatre insider' stated, "The difficulty is condensing the seven books into a manageable show. They are exploring various ideas. One possibility is to tell the whole story. Another is to just take a single plot. The plan is for spectacular flying scenes, live Quidditch and big showdowns with Voldemort."
The article also states that J.K. Rowling is planning to write another special Harry Potter book in aid of Comic Relief's Red Nose Day in 2009.
Please note that this none of this information has been confirmed.
Okay, I am a Harry Potter fan, through and through, but first and foremost I am a musical theater fan.
This is the dumbest thing I have ever hear of!! They are going to beat the life out of Harry Potter (Voldemort couldn't even do that) and now they are going to beat the life out of the stage.
Way to go and kill an amazing book and an amazing art form.
