RDR Books Withdraws Appeal for JKR/WB Lawsuit
|
RDR Books have withdrawn from the lawsuit against J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. If you'll recall, RDR Books lost the case in which they were trying to publish a book by Steven Vander Ark titled the Harry Potter Lexicon. The judge had ruled that the book took too much information from the Harry Potter books and that the author did not use enough of his own work. RDR then filed a plan to appeal the ruling.
The Christoper Little Literary Agency, who represents J.K. Rowling, have issued a statement that RDR Books have canceled their appeal.
"We are delighted that this matter is finally and favourably resolved and that J.K. Rowling's rights -- and indeed the rights of all authors of creative works -- have been protected. We are also pleased to hear that rather than continue to litigate, RDR have themselves decided to publish a different book prepared with reference to Judge Patterson's decision."
