Natalia Tena As Desdemona in RSC’s Othello

The Stage posted a brief article on their website to announce that Natalia Tena (Tonks from Order of the Phoenix) will make her debut with the Royal Shakespeare Company in their production of Othello by William Shakespeare. She will act in the leading part of “Desdemona” during the play’s nationwide tour in the UK this spring. Click here to read more. Thanks Snitchseeker

Othello will be produced by Kathryn Hunter who had the role of “Mrs. Figg” in Order of the Phoenix. She decided to set the play in the 1950’s because some of the social views in that period relates well to the theme of the story. Ms. Hunter was quoted to have said: “The way people view women and those of a different race are central to the play, so setting it in a time that predates the modern feminist and race relations era seems to make sense.” The show will open on January 30 at Warwick Arts Centre, University of Warwick in Coventry.
