We previously reported on Rupert Grint’s attendance at Berlinale, an International Film Festival in Berlin, Germany last weekend for the world premiere of his latest film Cherrybomb. After the screening, there was a Questions and Answers session with the two directors (Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn) and the three stars (Grint himself, Kimberley Nixon, and Robert Sheehan).
Thanks to Ice Cream Man (rupert-grint.us), a video of the session can be viewed on their YouTube station. It is difficult to understand some of the questions and answers, but it is still possible to enjoy the session. The cast was asked what did they learn from each other. They mentioned how difficult it was to maintain the Northern Irish accent at a realistic level and “not sound like a cartoon”, per Sheehan. Grint said the accent “has a strange sound” but it helped to listen to the tapes made by the dialect coach.
Naturally, Grint was asked about the difference between “Ron Weasley” in the Harry Potter films and his Cherrybomb character “Malachy”. At the end of the session, he did confirm that there were similarities between himself and “Malachy” in response to an impromptu question; but he didn’t say what they were before he was escorted away.
