Alan Rickman - A Muse?
|
UK’s The Comet reported Giles Terera’s intention to produce his first film, Muse of Fire. The documentary will be a collection of interviews and conversations with well-known actors who will share their knowledge and passion for Shakespeare in order to create an on-screen resource for students. Alan Rickman, known to Harry Potter fans as “Professor Snape” in the film adaptations of JK Rowling’s books, is mentioned as one of the actors who will be interviewed for the documentary.
Muse of Fire is to be completed by early next year and will be made available for the BBC.
Since there is no official acknowledgment from Mr. Rickman, please consider this to be unconfirmed. |

Alan Rickman Begins Filming HBP Beginning of February
|
Alan Rickman, who portrays the notorious Professor Severus Snape, was recently interviewed while at the Sundance Film Festival, and was asked about Harry Potter and when he would begin filming Half-Blood Prince.
Okay, I think your wranglers are giving me the signal, but I have to say, even before I got to the end of the Harry Potter books — Before you go any further, I never, ever talk about that character. Number one, because it's not fair on kids who haven't read to the end. And for me to say anything — there's a bit of it that just should be left innocent. It's real storytelling, what she's done, and I'm part of that. So I just never talk about it.
When do you go back to shoot Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince? They're shooting six [now], and I start shooting my part of it beginning of February.
It's a bigger part for you this time. Ahh.... There's important stuff. |

A Teacher's Hero: Professor Snape
|
Mary Beth Ellis, a college professor and correspondent for MSNBC, wrote up an article (caution for spoilers if you have not read the 6th book!) giving reasons why Professor Snape is her hero. How is that possible, you ask? How can Severus Snape be anyone's hero - other than Malfoy, maybe? Here are a few of her reasons:
Ms. Ellis speaks of the occassion when students must fill out evaluations on the instructors... I wish I could handle the situation more like Severus Snape might. There would be none of this smiley-smiley “I’ve enjoyed teaching all of you” business for Snape, who would deliver unto all one final glare before retiring to his dungeon for a relaxing evening of poking baby kittens with a stick.
And does Snape accept student's excuses? I think not! Snape does not suffer student excuses lightly. As opposed to me, who last semester nodded in sympathy when a student called to announce that he could not turn in his final paper because, quote, “there was a homicide at my apartment complex and the police aren’t letting anybody in or out.” Snape would not nod. Snape would want the crime scene photos for the yearbook.
She goes on to say... This is not to say that Snape doesn’t care about his students’ education, in a sarcastic, uncheerful, I-hate-you fashion. He’ll even save a life here and there, as long as you don’t try to hug him or talk to him or walk within a five-mile radius of him afterwards.
And what is his excuse anyway for being so, erm, moody? The poor man has greasy hair. You just can’t live happily like that. Invest in some Pantene Pro-V, Severus. You’ll feel better in the morning, sun or no sun.
There's much more Snape bashing in this article, so make sure to check it out! |

Snape On Worst Teachers List
|
Movies.com has published a list called "8 Great Teachers From Hell," and Professor Snape comes in 3rd! YAY SNAPE! Here is the wonderful things they said about our favorite teacher:
Symptoms of hellishness: Clearly favoring Slytherin students, constantly berating Harry, sneering.
Student response: Lighting Snape's cape on fire, misplaced suspicion and distrust.
Why you gotta watch it: While Chris Columbus' take on Harry Potter isn't quite as delicious as Alfonso Cuarón's, this introduction to J.K. Rowling's world of muggles and wizards is still pretty magical. Rickman absolutely nails Snape's confounding blend of malice and secret compassion.
