Here's the news on everything Harry Potter!

Beedle the Bard Movie Ideas and Sales
The LA Times have come out with some ideas on how they think The Tales of Beedle the Bard should be made into a film. Their ideas include making a Potter prequel using Dumbledore's commentary, expanding "The Warlock's Hairy Heart", and to ask J.K. Rowling to write a few more tales for a spin off for an animated TV series. Read how they back up their ideas here.

Also, reports are coming out that Tales has now sold 2,629,000 copies, coming out to more than £4 million in sales with all proceeds going to the Children's High Level Group (CHLG). On news of this, Jo stated, "I am absolutely delighted that so much money has been raised."

"I would like to thank everyone who has so far purchased a copy of the book," she said.

"All royalties will be going to help children without families, many of them with disabilities, whose voices have been unheard for many years."

Rumor: WB Wants Beedle the Bard Movie(s)
Cinema Blend are reporting that Warner Bros wants to make a film (or films) based off the stories in The Tales of Beedle the Bard. They're stating that after the Harry Potter films are done, they don't really have another series, so they're considering making the film(s) based off of Tales.

None of these stories seems to have any connection to the other, which ought to make it difficult for Warners to fit them all into a single film. Could they be planning five movies? That would seem unwise. These are short stories after all, it’s unlikely there’s enough material in any one story to justify a feature film.

There is no confirmation on this, so please consider it a rumor for now.

Reports and Photos from Beedle Tea Party
Some reports and photos are now online from the tea party for The Tales of Beedle the Bard tea party held in Edinburgh in which J.K. Rowling did a reading from the book.

Yahoo! UK is reporting that during her appearance she gave more information on why she decided to write the book.

The idea actually came from you, by which I mean Harry Potter fans," she told the 200 primary school children gathered at Edinburgh's Parliament Hall. "There was quite a lot of high feeling from Harry Potter fans that only someone who had £2 million could afford to read the book. I thought 'fair point', so I thought I'll publish it and then the charity can have that money too."

You can see photos of her at the event in our gallery here (thanks to UHP!).

UPDATE: Mugglenet also have a report. You can see it here.

Update: Beedle the Bard Reviews
JK Rowling's The Tales of Beedle the Bard is now in stores. A few reviews of the book's stories are now online.

The AP states that the book "shows us Rowling hasn't lost her touch since finishing her series. It's all here — cleverly written stories, little details that add to the enjoyment of readers who spot them, deeper points about the choices people make and their consequences."

The Telegraph's report goes into much more detail about the stories, telling us how, throughout the story, there are numerous notes by Dumbledore. "Those who know their Harry Potter will turn straight to the notes of the final tale, "The Tale of the Three Brothers". Dumbledore mentions that the legend of three brothers who cheated Death and were rewarded with an unbeatable wand, a stone that brings the dead to life and an Invisibility Cloak, might have an element of truth in it. At this point all Potter fans will be shouting out loudly in response."

Times Online have also posted a review. The pared-down language is tinged with antiquity but never patronises. Her gift for finding the perfect name, and the unexpected twist is undimmed. Like Charles Dickens, Rowling has given us a perfect Christmas treat – ideal to slip in any stocking.

The book's Release Tea Party will take place later on today in Edinburgh, with fans and JK Rowling in attendance.

Scholastic Release The Tales of Beedle The Bard Summary
We previously reported that Scholastic had announced The Tales of Beedle the Bard would be available for public sale December 4. Scholastic have now released a short summary regarding the book. Proceeds from The Tales of Beedle the Bard will go directly to Children's High Level Group, a charity which J.K. Rowling co-founded. You can read an excerpt from the information released below.

The stories are accompanied by delightful pen-and-ink illustrations by Ms. Rowling herself, featuring a still-life frontispiece for each one. Professor Dumbledore’s commentary—apparently written some eighteen months before his death—reveals not just his vast knowledge of Wizarding lore, but also more of his personal qualities: his sense of humor, his courage, his pride in his abilities, and his hard-won wisdom.
Never before have Muggles been privy to these richly imaginative tales: “The Wizard and the Hopping Pot,” “The Fountain of Fair Fortune,” “The Warlock’s Hairy Heart,” “Babbitty Rabbitty and Her Cackling Stump,” and of course, “The Tale of the Three Brothers.”
