Two Harry Potter Desktop Calendards for April!

This month we have two Harry Potter desktop calendars for you! The first one, made by the wonderful and talented Crmhpfan, has Harry Potter and Voldemort. The second, made by me, includes the new character posters from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Wii - HBP Video Game Stills
|
Today, EA released stills on the Wii platform for the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game, due out July 15th. You can see the stills here.
The producers had this to say:
We started from a very solid foundation in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix with a highly authentic Hogwarts and really focused on bringing more action and excitement to drive forward the narrative. This experience is enhanced with specific improvements such as full camera control, different times of day at Hogwarts, and improved navigational elements such as a player's ability to call up Nearly Headless Nick at any time to guide them through the various missions. |

Progress On Order of the Phoenix Videogame
|
EA Games, the maker of the Harry Potter videogames has released details of the progress of the Order of the Phoenix videogame.
WB Interactive Entertainment stated, "Working with EA, we look forward to offering fans the most authentic Harry Potter game to date, one which captures the compelling story of the fiction and high visual quality of the movie."

Updated: Our Policy on Potential Spoilers for Deathly Hallows
|
Since the title to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has now been released, I wanted to give our policy on potential spoilers for the book.
With Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, we had some major spoilers revealed on our discussion boards. I, and the staff here at Harry Potter's Page, are going to try our very hardest to not allow this to happen again.
Therefore, some of the steps that we will take to help avoid potential spoilers are:
- Not posting up articles that speak of bookies taking bets on possible deaths (during the printing of book 6, the bookies were very close).
- Closely monitoring the discussion board for potential spoilers once the book has been sent for printing.
- Closing off the discussion boards and and the comments sections if we feel there is a possibility of a spoiler. The discussion boards will have each posting and member approved once the book has been sent for delivery to retailers. We will will shut down the discussion boards the day the book is released and it will stay closed until the first moderator finishes the book and is able to open it back up.
I just wanted all of you to know what our policy is, this way you know that if you do not see certain articles about bookies taking bets, or other types of guesses on the outcome of the last book, you know why. I don't want anything spoiled for the fans. |

New Editorial Section
|
This is a new thing to Harry Potter's Page that we are going to extend the Editorial sections of those that have theories, suggestions, comments or anything that you can write about in regards to the Harry Potter series.
I am asking anyone out there that has an idea, to write up an editorial about it. I will personally review them and then post the best of that weeks up each week.
So, if you fit the category of writing an essay of about 1200-1500 words, with good grammar and a strong argument, then you may will be picked for the weeks Editoral.
Be mindful that if you are under 18, please ask your parents' permission because your submitted work will be posted online for everyone to see. Only your first name and/or your HPP board name will be used ONLY.
Finally, to do this, send your editorials in to Cruticus with the subject line being "Weekly Editorial" and your essay attached as a file.
Progress throughout the week so I can let you know, no more entries.

New News System Up and Running
|
As you may be able to tell, I have finally been able to put up the new news system. It took me a bit, as this system is much more complicated than the previous one. There are some extra items that I plan on adding soon. There are also some items (like the archives and search function) that I'm still working on. But, I wanted to get this up.
Unfortunately it means that I have lost some of the comments that have been posted over the past two days. Sorry about that, HPP fans. My comments file was already 55mb big, so I didn't want to stress the system again by moving it again.

New Layout Finished!
|
As you can all see, the new layout is finished! I hope all of you like it!
I still have to work on my news system. This is a big thing for me, as I've been using this one for three years. It may take me a bit, but I will get it up and running soon. Then our news posting will run much smoother, and will include many extra goodies for all of you! Including a rating system, better protection from spammers, categorizing the news, and much more!
We also have a new poll, so make sure to vote!

Some Site Maintenance
|
Hey HPP Fans!
As you may have noticed lately, we've been having some problems with the site loading pretty slowly. We've also been having problems with posts that are showing that we have no comments, when there are comments. This is due to the very pain-in-the-rear spam people. They posts up their many links to their different spam sites, which causes many problems with our news posting system. This is why you see some re-posts of some news. These posts especially were affected, so I had to re-post them.
This weekend I am going to try very hard to update our news posting system. Hopefully this will help with those type of problems.
I am also looking at a new layout. I do really love our current layout, but it just takes too long to load. The layout may not be done, but I am going to start on it as soon as possible.
So, just wanting to let you know, and apologizing for all the loading/posting/and other problems.
I think a nice Order of the Phoenix theme is in order. What do you think? :wink:
