Katie, Matt, Evanna, and Bonnie Speak on Phoenix and the Future
|
The Telegraph asked Katie Leung (Cho Chang), Matt Lewis (Neville Longbottom), and Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) about their experiences with the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film and what the actors would like to see happen with their characters. Here are a few excerpts:
Katie How will you feel when your family watch the kissing scene? I’ve never thought about that. Oh God. Well, there’s nothing I can do about it now. I’ll just have to watch the reaction on their faces when they see it.
Matt Will you be upset if Neville gets killed off? I would like him to live. But as long as he dies in a righteous and heroic way, I’ll be happy.
Evanna Do you think you are like your character? I think I am like Luna, but not as much as everyone thinks I am. She’s not as determined as I am. She wouldn’t have chased the part in the film the way I did. But we both believe in things that don’t have to have facts to back them up.
Bonnie Have you been given any clues as to what happens to your character? None whatsoever. I think it's best that way.
How would you like your character to end up? I would like to see her join Harry in his quest to fight Voldemort. I don't think he should have to go it alone.
Are you looking forward to your onscreen kiss with Harry in the next film? When I read about the kiss I wasn't expecting it at all. But I suppose I’ll get a feel of what’s to come when I see Katie and Dan’s kiss in this film.
UPDATE: The Gazette also has an interview with Matt Lewis, Bonnie Wright, and Evanna Lynch here (thanks to MN). |

Lewis: Director Had Him Re-Read the Harry Potter Books
|
IGN have posted their initial Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix set interviews with the Harry Potter stars. They have interviews with Dan Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Matt Lewis (Neville Longbottom). It seems that director, David Yates, really tried to have not only the movie, but the actors, stick with the book. Here's an excerpt of what Matt had to say:
"I remember when we first met him, a couple of months before we first started filming, he asked me to re-read the book and look out for some of the different things Neville did. For instance, when he is concentrating he sort of puts his tongue on his top lip and I started to note these [things] to bring the character from the book more to life on the screen. He asked me to look at some groups of people, like fan clubs and things like that, who are based around one thing because Neville is so into his herbology and he wanted me to realize what it is like to be obsessed with something, to be really into something so much that you'd be part of or set up a fan club."

Matt Lewis and OotP
|
TLC's PotterCast recently conducted an interview with Matt Lewis who potrays Neville in the upcoming movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
In the interview, he talks about Neville's character development in OotP:
""It almost comes off as a different character this year.... He's not the Neville that we all know. He starts off that way then rapidly changes throughout the film. It's been a lot of fun. Definitely a change, but definitely a welcome one."
Also, talks about new faces on set, including Imelda Staunton, who is playing Dolores Umbridge:
"She [as Umbridge] is the nastiest person you'll ever meet, on the film. She's just cruel and twisted and slightly mental.... You can see she's plotting something. She's plotting how she's going to kill you, later on, when your back is turned." |

Exclusive Interview with Matt Lewis!!!
|
We are very excited to give you our *Exclusive* interview with Harry Potter star Matt Lewis who plays Neville Longbottom. Harry Potter's Page staff member, Cruticus, had the pleasure of meeting with Matt yesterday during the Supanova Pop Culture Expo. We'd like to send a special Thank You! to the people there for letting Cruticus have this interview. They were great in helping us set it all up and bring to you Harry Potter fans. Now! On to the interview...
Cruticus and Matt Lewis! See Matt Lewis' special message for Harry Potters Page fans here!! Below are some excerpts... C: Have you met JK Rowling? I mean, being a great author that she is, she would have been a great guest?
ML: Oh yeah, I’ve met her a few times. The first time I don’t think I could physically speak ‘cause it was amazing ‘cause like you said, she is one of my favourite authors. And I was just a huge fan of Harry Potter, and it was great to meet her, and she’s actually really, really nice. She just spoke to us all individually and we had lunch with her. She is great to talk to. You can talk with her, and she’s nice. And yeah, it was great to meet her, I got a few pictures with her.
C: Just on a personal note. What do your bothers and sister say when they know they have their brother in a Harry Potter film. Do they gloat about you or show you off?
ML: Uh, I don’t think so. Well, one of my brothers is an actor already and he’s been acting since he was ten. And he’s ah, (turns to his parents sitting beside him) how olds he? Twenty, twenty-two? Twenty-two, yeah. (Back to the interview) He’s twenty-two now, so he’s been acting for a long time. And he was the reason I got into this [Harry Potter films] the first place. He’s really, really proud of me and he’s happy for me. And if I have any problems, I want to go through a script or whatever, I can go to him. So, he’s great. And my other brother, also in the business, he’s on the other side of the camera. He’s an editor, cameraman, that sort of thing. So both of them, they’re great about it. I don’t know, they might go and gloat. That’s pretty nice if they do, they never told me they have. That’s cool.
C: Did you get to see Ralph Fiennes as the Dark Lord?
ML: I never did. I’ve seen like some of the drawings and the Art Department’s work, but I never actually saw him in the make-up, so I’m really, really looking forward to see that on film; I’ve not seen it yet, so it should be good. You can see the entire interview here along with more photos! To all webmasters and any other media, please link directly to this posting or to this link. You may use the excerpts, but please give credit to this site! Thank you! |

Matt Lewis Online Chat Transcript
|
Did I spell transcript right? Ah, well. Anyways. You can find a transcript of the online chat with Matthew Lewis here!
And here's a clip:
Question from Virginia Are you planning on continuing your acting career after Harry Potter?
Matthew I have no idea, I am starting the 5th film in February and there are two more books that may be made in to films after that. I will have to wait and see because it is such a fickle business and I think that if the opportunity is there I will probably continue but you really don't know how it is going to turn out, let's hope for the best, eh.
