Yahoo News made a brief report that Jonathan Ross will host the Great British Movie Event. The cash raised from the auction will go to the National Film and Television School. Among the guests who plan to attend are Hugh Grant, Rowan Atkinson, Richard Curtis and Stephen Fry. They will have the opportunity to bid on items such as an uncorrected proof of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, signed by JK Rowling, as well as props from the movies. There will also be books signed by Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Sir John Mills and Ralph Fiennes, who has portrayed "Lord Voldemort" in the last two Harry Potter films.
The Great British Movie Event will be held at the Old Billingsgate in London on June 17.

"Voldemort" May Also Be Broadway Bound
|
We had previously reported on Ralph Fiennes'(Lord Voldemort) run in the stage play God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza. Per this article from Playbill, the play will close as scheduled. However, it will go to Broadway like Dan Radcliffe's Equus, but for the next season, which I believe is the Fall 2009 (Equus begins this September). I believe it will be with the same cast and the date will be in 2009 because the article states that later this year Fiennes will do Oedipus (which should be after his engagement with Gate/Beckett in New York) at the National Theatre.
I swear it's hard to keep track of that man's schedule. :lolol: |

Video: Fiennes' Stage Door Appearance
|
We previously reported that Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort) is currently in the stage production of God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza at London's Gieguld Theater in the West End.
Thanks to Emma-Watson.net and Ralph Fiennes Corner, a nice video of Mr. Fiennes' appearance at the stage door is available on YouTube or you can view it here.
After the play's run ends on June 14, Mr. Fiennes will start work on Gate/Beckett for New York's Lincoln Center Festival which we also previously reported here.
Update: A photo from the play with Mr. Fiennes and Janet McTeer, who was recently seen on PBS in Sense and Sensibility as Mrs. Dashwood, can be seen in our photo gallery. Click here |

Another Theater Engagement For Fiennes
|
Ralph Fiennes, who played "Lord Voldemort" in the past two Harry Potter films, has agreed to perform in Gate/Beckett at New York's Lincoln Center Festival this summer on July 16-27. It is a repertory of three one man works by Samuel Beckett, presented by the Gate Theater of Dublin. Liam Neeson and Barry McGovern will also appear in the repertory.
Fiennes will perform in Beckett's First Love, directed by Michael Colgan. It is a harsh story about a man who becomes homeless upon his father's death and meets a woman on a park bench.
Neeson will perform in Eh Joe; and McGovern will be seen in I'll Go On. And then, on the afternoon of July 26 at 2:00pm, all three men will read selections from Beckett's poetry and prose at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College in Manhattan, where Gate/Beckett will be seen.

Fiennes Also On Stage
|
Ralph Fiennes, who portrayed Lord Voldemort in the past two Harry Potter films, will be in God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza. Opening night for this stage production will be at the Gielgud Theater in London on March 25, 2008.
Fiennes will play Alain, a lawyer and father of an 11 year old boy who punched another boy in the school playground. After the incident, the victim's parents (played by Janet McTeer and Ken Stott) invite Alain and his wife Annette (played by Tamsin Greig) to their home to discuss the matter. Believe it or not, it is a comedy about how two couples meet up to discuss the unruly behavior of their children. Will it be a calm, rationale debate or will it be a hysterical night of name calling?

Ralph Fiennes Not in Half-Blood Prince
|
Ralph Fiennes, who portrayed Lord Voldemort in the fourth and fifth Harry Potter films, recently spoke with Ain't It Cool News. During the interview, he was asked if he was in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. He stated that he was not. When Ralph was asked whether he has yet signed on for the seventh film, Deathly Hallows, he said he hasn't yet. |

Ralph Fiennes in NY Times
|
Ralph Fiennes who plays Lord Voldemort Goblet of Fire was recently featured in the New York Times in an article discussing his many roles in his films this year:
He made a much better calculation when he said yes to playing Voldemort, and not only because the "Harry Potter" franchise is huge. He turns Voldemort into a real character. He may have a serpentine shaved head, sickly white skin and narrow slits where his nose has been digitally replaced. But he also has an aura of evil that comes from within, of wounded pride turned into vengeance and directed against Harry, the boy who thwarted him. There is a direct line running to Voldemort from Mr. Fiennes's role in "Red Dragon," as the killer with a gleam in his eye that is not conspicuously lethal until it's too late. |

Fiennes and His Evil Times on Goblet of Fire
|
Dark Horizons has an interview with Voldemort actor Ralph Fiennes. In the interview, he spoke of his big scene at the end of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire with actor Dan Radcliffe. "The poor guy had to be sort of in the grip of a statue of death holding him, while I pranced about telling him how evil I was and the genius I was, threatening him and he had to go "aagh, aagh, aagh," and I had to go ha-ha-ha-ha," he says, with a self-mocking evil laugh.
He also goes on to talk about the set, and how he has the greatest respect for the director, Mike Newell. |

Fiennes on Dan and His Life-Changing Voldemort Role
|
Ralph Fiennes, who portrays the evil Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, recently had a few interviews. In the first interview, he stated that the role of Voldemort will more than likely be a life changing part for him. "No matter what I've done in the past, now I've played Voldemort nothing else will ever matter again." He added, "I don't know if I'm going to play Voldemort in all four remaining films but even now, every time I go to the supermarket people come up to me and ask if I'm really 'he who must not be named'. I can see Harry Potter taking over my life."
During the world premiere of Wallace And Gromit and the Curse of the Ware-Rabbit, he was asked by Film Focus how it was to work with Dan Radcliffe and the graveyard scene. "It's a scary scene," he told FilmFocus, "There's a real menace in the scene; the tone is quite unlike anything we've seen in Potter before. It's a scary, scary, scary scene... Dan's very good," he said, "working with him was wonderful. Poor guy, he had to be so patient. I had to do all this waffling and talking about how I'm the Master of the Universe and how I'm evil and I'm going to kill him and he has to stand there all tied up, writhing around and groaning with pain while I'm monaloguing towards him."

Ralph Fiennes Animation Transformation
|
Andy over at HPFZ has had some of his readers put together a mini animation of Ralph Fiennes turning into Lord Voldemort. Creator Mark says, "It's great to see how the actor transforms into the onscreen character, and we've tried to illustrate this through our animation". Check out this nifty transformation here. |

Fiennes and the Personification of Evil
|
Ralph Fiennes, who portrays Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, has spoke with the New York Daily News, and, with relish, describes his Harry Potter role. "That's one of the hardest things to play, the personification of evil!" exclaims Fiennes. "It's a full-on villain turn. You have to find a certain style or tone — you don't want to be either too campy or too understated. I thought of that old [standard] about Voldemort having an unhappy childhood." |
