Rupert Grint: Harry Potter's Hot Sidekick
|
Rolling Stone posted a brief article about Rupert Grint's experience portraying Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films. The article reminisces about a video with an 11 year old Grint awed by his fortune to be cast as Harry Potter's best friend. It also mentions how he auditioned for the part.
Now, half of Grint's life already has gone by as he is in the midst of filming Deathly Hallows with Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger):
"I don't quite feel 21. I guess I still think I'm 16." He was quoted to have said.

Dan, Emma, and Rupert Photo To Be In Empire's Exhibit
|
We previously reported that Empire magazine did a feature on Half-Blood Prince in their anniversary edition. According to Jo, the webmistress of Emma Watson's official site, one of the photos taken for the feature will be exhibited in Empire's "first ever" photographic exhibition at the Century Club in London. There will be 18 other photographic portraits of well-known actors, like Tom Cruise, Jodie Foster, and Anthony Hopkins, which were specially commissioned for the magazine's 20th birthday issue that was guest-edited by Steven Spielberg.

Cast & Crew Arrive At Shell Cottage To Film Deathly Hallows
|
We previously reported on the Deathly Hallows film set construction of Shell Cottage in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Now, The Leaky Cauldron has received reports of Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley), and Warwick Davis (as Griphook) arriving in the area with the crew. They were seen earlier today at the beach.
One report was from Jo:
"From the looks of the conservatory and garden, it looks like they may do some internal filming. You can also see a chair in one of the front windows. I couldn’t get over the detail, the little window next the chimney is just such a nice effect, even lobster pots in the garden!"
Since the UK is approximately five hours ahead of us, I believe filming may have already started (per TLC's report of an early morning filming) at Freshwater Beach.
There are photos of the film crew setting up for filming at Shell Cottage in the photo gallery, courtsey of a Facebook group for Freshwater Beach who has photos from S. Click here to see them.

Rupert Grint Spotted At Adventure Island In England
|
The Basildon Echo reported Rupert Grint’s visit to Adventure Island in England. Taking a break from filming Deathly Hallows, the actor who portrays Harry Potter’s friend Ron Weasley made a trip to the amusement park. Customer Service Assistant George Bejko-Cowlbeck caught a glimpse of Grint but wasn’t sure he was the red-headed actor in the Harry Potter films:
“We weren’t sure at the time it was definitely him, but then one of the staff members went up to him and asked him. “He just seemed like a nice ordinary guy. We offered him some complimentary wristbands and he went on some of the main rides. “He was more than happy to stop and sign autographs and pose for photographs. Once people knew it was him then word soon spread around the park.”
Click here to read the article.
I remember Grint mentioning he visited Universal Studios while he was in California for the premiere of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and the wand/hand/feet ceremony at Grauman's Chinese Theater. I believe he mentioned a love for amusement parks so I hope that means he will be there for the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in 2010.

Video: Rupert Grint at Cherrybomb Q&A in Berlin
|
We previously reported on Rupert Grint’s attendance at Berlinale, an International Film Festival in Berlin, Germany last weekend for the world premiere of his latest film Cherrybomb. After the screening, there was a Questions and Answers session with the two directors (Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn) and the three stars (Grint himself, Kimberley Nixon, and Robert Sheehan).
Thanks to Ice Cream Man (rupert-grint.us), a video of the session can be viewed on their YouTube station. It is difficult to understand some of the questions and answers, but it is still possible to enjoy the session. The cast was asked what did they learn from each other. They mentioned how difficult it was to maintain the Northern Irish accent at a realistic level and “not sound like a cartoon”, per Sheehan. Grint said the accent “has a strange sound” but it helped to listen to the tapes made by the dialect coach.
Naturally, Grint was asked about the difference between “Ron Weasley” in the Harry Potter films and his Cherrybomb character “Malachy”. At the end of the session, he did confirm that there were similarities between himself and “Malachy” in response to an impromptu question; but he didn’t say what they were before he was escorted away.
Click here to watch the Q&A in five clips.
Note: Although Clips 4 and 5 are similar, the impromptu questions are at the end of Clip 5.
