Wizarding Rumors about the Harry Potter Theme Park
|
There have been exciting rumors circulating online about The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park in Orlando, Florida. It started with unconfirmed information that auditions will be held soon for actors to play a variety of characters, including the main ones we know and love, from Harry’s world. Other “wizards” and “witches” will participate in duels at specific spots in the park while a group of actors will be innocent bystanders who move and duck from the special effects of sparks and explosions. There will also be a “wand instructor” who will show children how to wave their wands and do magic tricks.
Also, there will be a stage show of the graveyard scene where Harry has his first duel with Voldemort from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Another piece of unconfirmed information is one of the rides will be similar to Harry’s ride with Hagrid in Gringotts Bank.
Currently, the theme park is still under construction. The last report for the park’s opening is December 2009.

Update: A More Firm Date for Harry Potter Theme Park Opening?
|
A recent article from TCPalm about the opening of a new ride at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, has a bit of information about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. In it, Universal Orlando Resort President Bill Davis stated that the expected opening date of the Potter theme park is December 1st, 2009.
UPDATE: As promised, I found out more information! I've been told by Universal Orlando Resort that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is 'still on track to open in late 2009'. So, it looks to be 2009 than rather 2010 so far! Let's hope things keep on track and the weather holds (no hurricanes!). |

Advertising for Wizarding World of Harry Potter in 2008
|
A small update on Universal Studios Wizarding World of Harry Potter has noted that we should expect advertising for the new theme area some time in 2008. It also gives us more information on some of what we can expect in the park.
Look for many of Universal's TV commercials for 2008 to be peppered with brief clips from "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," and "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."
FYI: You may have noticed that -- in the early concept art of the Hogsmeade Village section of "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" -- that this section of Island of Adventure's newest "land" is blanketed with snow. Well, there's a reason for that. You see, Universal is hoping to turn IOA's "Harry Potter" -themed section into a way to challenge Disney World's dominance when it comes to Christmas in Central Florida. Picture -- if you will -- a yearly "Holidays at Hogwarts" promotion at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. With carolers strolling through the streets of Hogsmeade and a traditional English Christmas feast being served nightly in the Great Hall at Hogwarts Castle.

Hogwarts Theme Park Details are Top Secret
|
BusinessWeek spoke with entrepreneurs in the Orlando area about the upcoming Harry Potter theme park that is to open in Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, sometime at the end of 2009 or the beginning of 2010. They stated that construction is set to begin at the end of this year. Some small companies that help to build theme parks are hoping to benefit. Bill Nassal Sr., with Nassal Co. that designs faux rocks and other objects, had to sign a confidentiality agreement just to talk with Universal. Says Nassal: "We can't say a word about any of this."
So, it looks like another Top Secret Harry Potter job! Just not a book, this time. |

More Information on Harry Potter Theme Park
|
The Orlando Sentinel did a follow-up about the opening date of the Harry Potter theme park at Orlando's Universal Studios. The date for the opening has been narrowed down a bit to between December 15, 2009 to June 30, 2010.
So, still quite a large window, but with trying to build things in Florida, with the weather the state gets, sometimes things get delayed. So, let's all cross our fingers for a Harry Potter Christmas in Orlando in December 2009! What a present that would be! |
