Tom Felton on Auditioning for Potter and His Feelings at the End
|
Tom Felton, who portrays Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, was recently interviewed by the Press Association. During the interview he talked about his auditioning process for the films.
Tom may play Harry's nemesis, but he actually auditioned to play Harry originally.
He revealed: "I went for Harry for about five times and then Ron for a couple more and ended up dying my hair blond for Draco. I had my hair dyed brown, ginger and then blond and finally they got it right.
"I know Chris Columbus (director) was very keen I think to use me in the film but didn't quite know where to place me so to speak, so I am glad he found a place. I don't know what he saw in me as an 11-year-old, I can't see how I could be evil, but I am very glad he gave me the part of Draco definitely."
He also talked about how he feels with the films coming to an end.
"It's a sad thought and an exciting one at the same time - I think we're all a little bit anxious about it being the last one but at the same time very excited to see what's going to come for all of us."
He added: "I have endless memories. To pick out one is an endless task, but collectively the seven years have been a huge, huge experience for me and a great learning experience and I've met some great friends and it's been too good to be true." |

More From Tom Felton On His Music, Acting, and Harry Potter
|
We previously mentioned that Tom Felton did a special interview with Feltbeats which included questions from our friends at Snitchseeker to promote his EP (Extended Play) In Good Hands that will available soon on Itunes. The interview was divided into four parts. All of the parts are now available online.
It is a very personable interview. Felton discusses how his character "Draco Malfoy" evolved in the creating process by working with various directors of the Harry Potter films. He mentions that he likes keeping his music within the fan based community rather than "commercialize" it. Speaking of his music, he added a little surprise to the interview.

Tom is now in another poll - this time for Entertainment Weekly. Dakota Fanning has been confirmed as Alec's sister, Jane, but Alec's part still hasn't been decided upon. There must be some people pulling for Tom since he's appeared in two different polls.
