Confirmed: Harry Potter and the Half Blood-Prince Rated PG
MTV Movie Blog reports ( http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2009/01/07/harry-potter-and-the-half-blood-prince-tones-down-gets-pg-rating/ ): "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” seems to be on a crash course to disappointing the Harry Potter fanbase. First, there were usual rumblings about changes to the story and characters, and then came the awful decision to delay “Half-Blood Prince by more than a year."
A PG rating may mean that some of the darker moments of the books may be emitted in the movies. For example, David Heyman already confirmed to Potter fansite SnitchSeeker ( http://snitchseeker.com/ ) that the Battle of Hogwarts had been cut in order to “avoid repetition."
However, Prisoner of Azkaban, which had a very dark tone, was also rated PG.
